(VOVworld) - The Moldavian parliament on Thursday dissolved Prime Minister Valery Strelet's government in a no-confidence vote.

The decision was supported by 65 out of 101 members of parliament.

Tension around the pro-European right wing coalition increased following the arrest of former Moldavian Prime Minister Vlad Filat who was charged with taking brides worth 260 million USD. This was part of a fraud that led to a loss of 1.5 billion USD by three banks ahead of the 2014 election.

Following the vote, Marian Lupu, leader of the Democratic Party, said he wants to set up a new government.

Moldova’s parliament will have 3 months to establish a new government. After that it would have to hold a new election before a new government could be set up.
