On January 13, 1973, when the young volunteers, soldiers and workers were on duty, a US carpet bombardment killed 156 people, including 67 young volunteers. At a monument groundbreaking ceremony in Bo Trach district on Sunday Tran Cong Thuat, Chairman of Quang Binh Provincial People’s Committee, expressed locals’ boundless respect and gratitude to those who laid down their lives in Quyet Thang hamlet dubbed as “a land of bloodshed”. He said that once completed, the monument will be part of Quang Binh’s historical relic sites to educate revolutionary tradition, patriotism, and ideal lifestyle to the young generation.
