Of the total, only imported case was reported in Tay Ninh province that borders Cambodia. The patient crossed the Moc Bai international border gate into Vietnam and was immediately placed in quarantine upon his arrival.

Ho Chi Minh City, the largest coronavirus hotspot in Vietnam, took the lead, with 365 cases. It was followed by Long An 52, Vinh Long 23, Dong Nai 12 and Tay Ninh 5. Seven cases were detected in Phu Yen and one in Hanoi.

All 12 cities and provinces in the Mekong River Delta have so far recorded infection. Some of the regional localities emerged as hotspots, logging hundreds of cases.
