More than 350 blood units collected in Hanoi
(VOVWORLD) - A total of 350 blood units were collected on Saturday at a blood donation drive themed “Give blood, give life”, organized by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and the Vietnam Housing Group Limited Company in Hanoi.
WHO recommends that blood donation by at least 2% a country's population is generally sufficient to meet a country's basic requirements for safe blood. With a population of 96 million, Vietnam needs at least 1.9 million blood units to satisfy emergency and treatment demands. Vietnam is currently capable of ensuring only 80% of blood demand.
