(VOVworld) - The Moroccan Interior Ministry on Wednesday confirmed that a terror cell of three jihadists linked to the Islamic State (IS) in Libya was neutralized by Morocco's Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ).

The group, who planned to take bloody terror attacks in Morocco’s Northern region, had been in operation in many Morocco cities, including Oujda, Casablanca, and Fes.  The Moroccan Interior Ministry considered Libya a favorite place for IS fighters, who aim to control the Maghreb Region, including Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, and Tunisia. Since 2002, Morocco has wiped out 150 networks linked to terror group in conflict areas like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Syria, and the Sahel Region. From 2012 to 2015, Morocco shut down 119 terror plans, 132 terror networks, and arrested 2,720 terrorists.
