Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang told the press on Thursday that they mostly went to neighboring countries, especially Poland, Slovakia and Romania, and received support from Vietnamese representative offices in terms of immigration, transit, accommodation and other necessities. She said that the Foreign Ministry will make transparent the routes, costs and flights when available.

She reflected on Vietnam’s viewpoint on the situation in Ukraine urging parties to hold dialogue on the basis of peace and mutual respect.

Ms. Hang said: “Vietnam shared ASEAN's views in the Declaration of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers on Ukraine on February 26, as well as in the speech of the Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the UN at the Special Emergency Session of the UN General Assembly on March 1. Vietnam therefore demands respect for international law, the UN Charter, and the settlement of disputes by peaceful means. This should be done on the basis of fundamental principles of international law and the UN Charter, especially the principles of respecting independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of states, non-interference in internal affairs, and non-use or threat to use force in international relations."

Hang added: "Vietnam is greatly concerned about the armed conflict situation in Ukraine. We call on all parties to exercise restraint and immediately stop using force to avoid casualties and damage to civilians."

The spokeswoman said that Vietnam supports and proposes that the international community continue to create conditions for the parties to dialogue and promote aid and humanitarian relief for people. Vietnam has requested that relevant parties ensure security and safety for the expatriate communities living in Ukraine, including the Vietnamese community.
