(VOVworld) – Myanmar’s National League for Democracy (NLD) has secured enough seats in Myanmar’s parliament to nominate two vice presidential candidates – a third candidate will be nominated by the country's military.
The NLD has so far taken a total of 709 seats at the three levels of the parliament, winning 217 seats in the House of Representatives (Lower House) out of 330 elected, 110 in the House of Nationalities (Upper House) out of 168 elected, and 382 in the Region or State Parliament.
Meanwhile, the ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) has booked 98 seats, including 28 in the House of Representatives, 12 in the House of Nationalities, and 55 in the Region or State Parliament.
The remaining parliamentary seats went to some ethnic parties and independents.
