The pledge was made hours after opposition leader and head of the National League for Democracy (NLD) Aung San Suu Ky urged a dialogue with President U Thein Sein, Parliament Speaker U Shwe Mann, and Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Services Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing.
The President's Office said the government will respect the decision of the people and will carry out a transfer of power calmly and peacefully, and added that mutual coordination and discussion will occur after release of the final election result by the Union Election Commission (UEC).
By end of day on Wednesday, the UEC had announced 573 parliament seat winners. The NLD party won 490 seats across all elected bodies.
