The Russian Pacific Fleet has confirmed the missile launches at a target in the Sea of Japan from the Musudan-ri site in northeast North Korea in what appeared to be part of normal exercises, the official said.
The official of the district based in Khabarovsk declined to say exactly when the missiles were fired.
South Korean Defense Minister Kim Kwan Jin said last Tuesday that North Korea test fired short-range ballistic missiles on Feb. 10 but did not disclose from which site and in which direction.
