NA begins Q&A session with employment, social insurance issues

(VOVWORLD) -During the first question-and-answer session of the 15th National Assembly on Tuesday, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung focused on job generation, measures to develop human resources, and resolving inadequacies and limitations in social insurance.

Data has shown that the average unemployment rate in the first quarter of this year was 2.25%, low compared to other countries, but reflecting businesses losing orders, restructuring production, and restructuring their workforce.

Minister Dung suggested that localities boost the activities of trading floors and job transaction centers, and said an amended Employment Law will stipulate this. To improve labor productivity, He stressed the need to restructure the workforce, improve training to improve human resources, especially skilled human resources, and reduce the prevalence of labor-intensive industries.

Minister Dung said the average monthly income of employees in the first quarter of this year was 340 USD, up 2.6% from the same quarter last year. He said wages of workers are still low and their life is still difficult despite businesses’ efforts.

"It’s important to focus on expanding production and increasing workers’ wages," Mr Dung said, adding that "we need to improve employees’ vocational skills and give them welfare, cultural, medical, and educational support." Another solution is to strengthen job recruitment, business connections, and links between regions, he said. 

In his opening remarks, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said the Q&A session will give timely resolution to pressing issues and propose strategies for addressing long-term issues.

According to Mr. Hue, the Q&A session is an effective form of oversight that demonstrates democracy, rule of law, professionalism, publicity, and transparency in the National Assembly’s activities. "I believe the session will meet the practical requirements and expectations of voters and the people," he added.
