Chairman Hue extended warm congratulations from Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for the successful general election of the 10th Cuban National Assembly.

He said the two countries’ similarities in national construction and defense, revolutionary ideology and aspiration, and the heroic tradition of fighting for independence, freedom, sovereignty, and national self-determination build a solid foundation for the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba:

“President Ho Chi Minh said Vietnam and Cuba are thousands of miles apart, but their peoples are as close as brothers and sisters. Following President Ho Chi Minh's exhortation, generations of Vietnamese leaders and people have always affirmed that uniting with and supporting Cuba is the conscience and responsibility of the communists and all Vietnamese people. It’s the morality and tradition of remembering the source of the water we drink, and being loyal to comrades and friends. We will always remember Cuba's carefree, pure, and brotherly support for Vietnam.”

National Assembly Chairman Hue said that amidst complicated global competition, the two countries must unite, be steadfast in the revolutionary path, and uphold the principles of independence, freedom, and equal cooperation.

President of the NA of the People’s Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez recalled General Raul Castro Ruz’s emotional stories of about President Ho Chi Minh and the traditional relationship between Vietnam and Cuba as well as Vietnam’s lessons on national construction and development.
