(VOVworld)- The 11^th Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament has opened in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan led the Vietnamese delegation at the event,which takes place from Monday to Tuesday.

In her address, Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, speaker of the Federal National Council of the UAE highlighted women as the center of social development and as major investors in peace and international security. The President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Saber Chowdhury said women, accounting for 50% of the global population, play an important role in changing the world and addressing a range of challenges including poverty, terrorism, and climate change. Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan is scheduled to deliver a speech at the event.

At a meeting with Minister of State for Tolerance of the United Arab Emirates Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi on Monday, Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan praised the UAE for its preparations for the summit saying it will contribute to elevating UAE’s position in the international arena. Madam Ngan said Vietnam attached great importance to its friendship and multifaceted cooperation with the UAE, one of Vietnam’s important trade, investor and labor partners in the Middle East. The UAE is Vietnam’s 7^th largest export market.
