NA debates Law on Cooperatives
(VOV/VOVworld)- On Thursday, the National Assembly’s Standing Committee discussed the Law on Cooperatives and the revised Law on Electricity. National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung attended the meeting. The deputies discussed several incentives and further state support for cooperatives, and proposed that cooperatives operate the same as businesses to increase their revenues, generate more jobs and enhance their competitiveness. Phan Trung Ly, Head of the National Assembly’s Legal Commission says: "Cooperatives should have their own legal status and not simply be regarded as enterprises. Cooperatives are not enterprises. However, they can enjoy the same incentives as enterprises do".
The deputies agreed that the capital contributions of each cooperative member should be less than 20% of the registered capital. They also discussed the regulations the govern electricity charges. Later, they debated the revised ordinance on the honorable state title “Heroic Vietnamese mothers”. The ordinance will come into force on January 1st, next year.
