NA deputies call for reinforcement of Tobacco Control Law
(VOVWORLD) - National Assembly’s Committee on Social Affairs continued its 15th plenary meeting on Friday to appraise government use of funds for the reduction of tobacco-related ills in the last 2 years.

The committee members agreed that since its establishment 6 years ago, the fund has played a key role in supporting agencies, organizations, and local authorities in carrying out actions to prevent and control the harms of tobacco. A smoking ban has not been strictly observed in places of work, hospitals, schools, and public places, according to the Committee’s Deputy Head Bui Sy Loi. NA deputies urged the government to direct the Ministry of Health to review 5 years of the implementation of the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco-related Ills to identify shortcomings propose revisions to regulations to better use the funds in accordance with the law.
