(VOVworld) – National Assembly deputies discussed the revised Law on the Vietnam Fatherland Front on Thursday. They agreed on comprehensive changes to the Law to specify the Constitution’s new regulations regarding the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s support for law enforcement and create the legal basis and necessary conditions for the Front’s activities in the future.

They urged more specific mechanisms for the Front to fulfill its tasks of government consulting, monitoring, and social criticism, to meet people’s aspirations, demands, and wishes to contributing to law and party building. Tran Hong Tham is a Deputy from Can Tho City:
"I propose more specific regulations on the Front’s functions, tasks, and authorities, as well as necessary conditions for the operation of the Front, especially with regard to its activities in social monitoring and criticism. This will facilitate the Front’s activities in representing people, protecting their legitimate rights and interests, thus contributing to build a stronger and more effective political system."
