National Assembly calls for issuance of e-passports
(VOVWORLD) - Lawmakers on Wednesday discussed a draft Law on Entry and Exit of Vietnamese Citizens, focusing on the legal issues that affect issuing, managing, and using electronic passports.

Deputy Ha Thi Lan representing Bac Giang province said Vietnam should issue passports equipped with an electronic chip and digitalize the control of immigration.
“The issuance of e-passports will ensure national security. An e-passport stores full personal biometrics and identity information and authorities’ e-signatures and can replace identity papers. It would make control of entry and exit at border gates faster and more accurate. An electronic control system would simplify procedures and reduce the time for queuing,” said Lan.
