National Assembly calls for relevant supportive policies for different categories of poor people
(VOVworld)- National Assembly deputies on Saturday spoke highly of poverty reduction policy which enables up to 2.5% of poverty reduction annually since 2005.
Although deputies indicated higher risks of poverty relapse, widening gap between rich and poor and fragmented policies lenient to the poor. A deputy from Ninh Binh province, Luu Thi Huyen: “Voters asked the government to classify poor households and people. Permanent supportive policies should only serve those who could not escape poverty due to force majeure. Other policies must be periodic and attached to conditions that beneficiaries shall comply. Support forms must be diversified while free grants should be limited. They must encourage poor people to escape poverty and mobilize the community involvement in poverty reduction.”
Deputy Vo Kim Cu from Quang Tri province calls for incentives in agricultural investment: “Agricultural businesses must receive more support in terms of seedlings, new technology, processing and distribution. This will later benefit farmers.”
