National Assembly Chairwoman participates in the national festival for Dao ethnic culture

(VOVWORLD) -A national festival for Dao ethnic culture opened in Tuyen Quang city on Friday. Speaking in the opening ceremony, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said ethnic cultural identities are valuable heritage to help enrich and diversify Vietnam’s culture.

She urged for better preservation of ethnic cultural identities, considering it an important task in sustainable development: “Provinces and agencies should promote the role by cultural stakeholders in the preservation and promotion of ethnic cultural identities. This will ensure the best condition for ethnic people to benefit from and enjoy their cultural innovation. Cultural heritage protection and promotion should be combined with economic development and sustainable tourism.”

Vietnam has more than 750,000 Dao ethnic people, living mostly in northern mountainous provinces.
