National Assembly debates draft law on measurements and maps
(VOVWORLD) -National Assembly deputies on Friday discussed the draft law on measurements and maps.
The bill states that fundamental measurement and mapping activities should ensure national sovereignty, territorial integrity, security and defense, meet the demand of Vietnam’s international integration, and match international treaties Vietnam has signed. Deputy Nguyen Ngoc Phuong of Quang Binh province said: “The bill seeks to involve the private sector in managing measurements and clearly define who is responsible for what. For example, the defense sector is in charge of issues related to the sea and islands, and the army. Land issues are overseen by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The bill also regulates the quality, management, and socialization of maps.”
