(VOVworld) – National Assembly deputies approved the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on Friday.

They agreed with the government’s position that Vietnam does not consider the Convention against Torture a direct legal basis for extradition and criminal cases.
They said that ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is evidence of Vietnam’s honoring of its international commitment to respect, ensure, and protect the rights and interests of the disabled. Deputies also discussed the draft Veterinary Law in the morning session.
The National Assembly session will close Friday afternoon.
