(VOVworld) – The National Assembly Standing Committee opened its 24^th session on Monday in Hanoi.

The committee discussed the revised draft law, supplements to the Health Insurance Law and revised draft Marriage and Family Law. National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung stressed that the session is a preparation for the 7^th meeting of the 13^th National Assembly. The session is significant because it opens after the Constitution takes effect. Mr. Hung said social health insurance is a humanitarian service, adding that the government needs to support part of the health insurance plan for the disadvantaged people and those who rendered great service to the nation. He asked to streamline procedures to help beneficiaries.

National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong said: "This time, we confirm that health insurance fund is open to all. So the word “compulsory” is necessary. This fund should exclude expenditures for communication, as well as rewarding and purchasing medical facilities. The fund needs to be valid at both public or private health clinics".
