National Assembly Standing Committee wraps up its 35th session
(VOVworld) - Deputy Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong has chaired the closing session of the Standing Committee’s 35th plenum in Hanoi. On the last day of the 3 days of meeting, members commented on the bill governing detention, saying that the detainees were not pleaded guilty and must have their citizen rights respected, especially healthcare and access to lawyers. During the 3-day session, members discussed several bills including those on National Assembly election, state budget and public referendum. They called for a government review of cost and effects from a project to build Long Thanh airport, including impacts on state budget and public debts. Deputy Chairwoman Phong called for the legislative body focus on preparation for the upcoming 132nd Inter-parliamentary Union General Assembly in Hanoi.
