(VOVworld) – The Government Committee for Religious Affairs held a national meeting to review the implementation of the Prime Minister’s directive on tasks regarding Protestantism from 2005 to 2015. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said it’s important to take into consideration the relations of Protestantism to national, political, security, economic, cultural, and external issues.

Minister of Home Affairs, Nguyen Thai Binh, said Vietnam’s consistent policy towards Protestantism is to respect the legitimate right of religion and belief, acknowledge pure religious practices, and strictly punish schemes and actions that take advantage of religious matters to disturb national solidarity and unity.
Binh said: “Over the past 10 years, we have obtained positive results in implementing tasks regarding Protestantism. The Directive has improved state management on the religion and contributed significantly to fighting hostile forces who might take advantage of Protestantism to harm national unity.”
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc gave the Labor Order, 3rd Class, to the Government Committee for Religious Affairs. Minister Nguyen Thai Binh gave certificates of merit to outstanding individuals and organizations in implementing tasks regarding Protestantism.
