Delegates said women account for more than 71% of the national workforce and are significantly contributing to Vietnam’s economic development. They suggested that the draft documents of the upcoming Congress should clarify Vietnamese women’s comprehensive development.
Tran Thi Thanh Thanh, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Children’s Rights (VAPCR), said: "I suggest to add the term “gender equality” into the article on “a basic and comprehensive reform of education and training to improve the quality of human resources and development”, and to ensure social equality and other basic values of socialism, especially as women are accounting for more than a half of Vietnam’s population."
Childcare and protection have also attracted much attention from the participants who said that families play a vital role in protecting children.
"We’d like to make clear that talking about children and women means talking about families. Therefore, the role of families should be put in spotlight in the draft documents of the 13th National Party Congress to improve human resources and boost human development," said Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, former Chairwoman of Vietnam Women’s Union
