(VOVWORLD) -The Russian military website announced Monday that a large-scale cyber attack on NATO, resulting in 40% of its cyber-infrastructure being paralyzed, was a distributed denial of service (DDoS), which made it impossible for users to access their accounts.

Affected units were the War Development Command, NATO's Procurement and Support Agency and Cyber Training Centers, and the NATO Communications and Information Service. Hackers had access to all employees’ personal data, including on the portal where officials make important decisions.
This attack was a serious breach of NATO security, and security experts are working to restore the damaged facilities and identify those involved.
