(VOVWORLD) - The North Atlantic Treaty Organization has invited US President-elect Joe Biden to a summit in Brussels in early 2021 after he takes office, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Monday.

In a phone call with Biden last week, the head of NATO and European Council President Charles Michel invited him to rebuild transatlantic ties and meet with Washington’s European allies next year. Stoltenberg thanked Biden “for being a long-standing supporter of NATO and the transatlantic relationship.” Michel “proposed to rebuild strong transatlantic” ties.
