(VOVWORLD) -NATO's new plans for Ukraine will not make the alliance a party to the conflict, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said at a press conference following a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels on Wednesday.

Stoltenberg insisted that NATO is and will remain a defensive alliance. It is discussing, not a NATO combat presence in Ukraine, but how the alliance can deliver outside support to Ukraine.
Earlier Stoltenberg said NATO members at the Brussels meeting had agreed on a greater NATO role in planning and providing long-term military support to Ukraine.
Details of the plans will be discussed in the coming weeks and final decisions will be announced at a summit in Washington in July.
