(VOVworld) – Preparations for the 2016 Hue Festival have been put in place for the opening ceremony on April 29. 15 stages have been set up for large-scale performances. The grand opening and closing ceremonies will be held at Ngo Mon square and an extravagant Ao dai show will take place at Bia Quoc Hoc square instead of Trang Tien Bridge as at previous festivals. Several international art troupes will bring their exotic performances.

Nguyen Dung, Deputy Chairman of Thua Thien – Hue provincial People’s Committee, says: “22 art troupes from 18 countries and 12 Vietnamese troupes will perform at the festival. All the art troupes in Hue will join the festival. We’ve rehearsed the opening ceremony. The festival aims to promote Hue’s cultural and historical value.”
Along with artistic programs showcasing Vietnamese and foreign culture, Hue’s folk and street arts will be given a chance to shine. Diverse cultural activities offer plenty of choices for visitors including exhibitions of photos and calligraphy, cuisine, kite flying, sports contests, scientific workshops, and trade fairs. The 9th Hue Festival honoring the 710th anniversary of Thua Thien-Hue will take place from April 29 to May 4.
