(VOVworld) - A new video was released on militant websites, showing a man who appeared to be Japanese journalist Kenji Goto, who is believed to be a prisoner of the Islamic State (IS), Japan’s Kyodo News Agency reported Tuesday.

In the video, a man in an orange outfit who says he is Kenji Goto and holds a photograph of Jordanian pilot Maaz al-Kassasbeh, another IS hostage. He asked Jordan to free Sajida al-Rishawi, an Iraqi woman convicted of attempting suicide bombing in Jordan in 2005. The man says this will be his last message and asks the Japanese government to put all their political pressure on Jordan. He stresses that he only has 24 hours left to live, and the pilot even less. The video has English subtitles indicating it is the second public message of Kenji Goto to his family and the Japanese government.
The Japanese government said Tokyo is verifying the authenticity of the video.
