Nguyen Huy Thiep posthumously honored with Lifetime Achievement Award

(VOVWORLD) -The Hanoi Writers' Association has agreed to posthumously present the Lifetime Literary Achievement Award to writer Nguyen Huy Thiep, Chairman of the Association Tran Gia Thai said on Tuesday.

Thiep was awarded by the Hanoi Writers' Association for his critique essay "Throwing a net to catch birds".

Nguyen Huy Thiep was born on April 29, 1950 in Thai Nguyen and his hometown is Thanh Tri district, Hanoi. In 1970, he graduated from the history faculty of Hanoi National University of Education. He died on March 20, 2021, in Hanoi, at the age of 72.

Nguyen Huy Thiep is a phenomenon of Vietnamese literature in the doi moi (reform) period. The Retired General and The Winds of Hua Tat are works that "resonate and let the public recognize Nguyen Huy Thiep". His books have been translated into various languages.

He received the Order of French Literature and Art in 2007, the Premio Nomino Prize of Italy in 2008, and was posthumously awarded the State Prize for Literature and Art in 2022.
