Nguyen The Ky's play performed in Long An
(VOVWORLD) - The play “Thay Ba Doi” (Teacher Ba Doi) was performed on Sunday night in the southern province of Long An to mark 100 years of cai luong (reformed opera). Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and leaders of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) were among the audience.

The play written by Associate Professor and Doctor Nguyen The Ky was adapted to reformed opera style by Hoang Song Viet and Pham Van Dang. Bien Huu Hung Dung, the head of Long An reformed opera troupe, said: “The local people were so excited and looked forward to watching the play. It is great honor for Long An when the play was performed in our province”.
The show Thay Ba Doi (Teacher Ba Doi), portrays the career of famous musician Nguyen Quang Dai, a guru of cai luong who combined the royal court music, tai tu or amateur music, and classical theater to create cai luong in Vietnam.
The play stars talented artists of the Vietnam Cai Luong Theater of Hanoi, Tran Huu Trang Theater of HCM City, Voice of Vietnam Theater and Long An Reformed Opera Art Troupe.
