In the semi-finals of the 50kg category in New Delhi, India, on Thursday, Nguyen Thi Tam beat France’s Lkhadiri Wassila, a highly-rated boxer who won 7 French Championship and 2 bronze medals at the European Championship. Tam won with a final score of 4-1 to advance to the final.
In the final on Sunday, Tam will play Zareen Nikhat of India, who won the championship in the 52 kg category last year. The game will be broadcast live on Youtube channel – Prasar Bharati Sports.
Advancing to the final, Tam also secured herself a ticket to the upcoming Olympic Games, making her the first Vietnamese athlete to head to the Paris Olympics 2024 and also the first Vietnamese boxer to attend two consecutive Olympic Games.
