Ninety-six percent of Syria’s declared chemical weapons destroyed
(VOVworld) – Ninety-six percent of Syria’s declared chemical weapons have been destroyed, according to the latest report by the Joint Mission of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and the United Nations (OPCW-UN).

According to Special Coordinator, the OPCW-UN’s Sigrid Kaag, they were preparing to destroy the 12 remaining chemical weapons facilities including seven so-called hangers and five tunnels. Earlier, the US and the OPCW-UN announced that they had destroyed the necessary amount of chemical materials used to produce chemical weapons in Syria. As planned, the OPCW-UN’s Joint Mission will conclude their tasks on September 30th.
