Speaking at the government’s regular June meeting on Monday, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said the meeting took place in special circumstances, as China has disregarded ethics, international law, and the Vietnam-China friendship by illegally placing oil rig Haiyang 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf. Vietnam will spare no effort to take all steps in compliance with international law, to protect its national sovereignty while preserving peace, stability, and security in order to ensure socio-economic growth and realize its 2014 targets.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung asked the cabinet and local leaders to uphold their responsibility to contribute practical ideas for a resolution relating Vietnam’s targets, policies and realities.
At Tuesday’s working session, cabinet members and local leaders discussed the restructure of state-owned enterprises in the first half of 2014 and orientations to use revenues from corporate restructuring and equitization. Delegates also reviewed national security during the past 6 months.
