This is the first time no new infections have been registered for a single day in Vietnam. To date,126 patients have fully recovered from the disease, and some more are expected to be discharged from hospital later Thursday. However, five patients’ condition deteriorated and they are now receiving oxygen support.

The Committee on Wednesday held that the spread of COVID-19 may have slowed in Vietnam but the country must remain on alert since it is still too early to confirm that the pandemic has been contained. It said Vietnam persists in measures such as quarantining, testing people having contact or links with confirmed cases, practicing social distancing, and detecting small hotspots early to prevent them from becoming larger.
