(VOVworld) – Turkey has denied that the US-led coalition will use its military bases for air strikes against the Islamic State.

No agreement with the US on the use of the Incirlik air base in southern Turkey

A Turkish official said Monday that Ankara hasn’t reached any new agreement with the US on the use of the Incirlik air base in southern Turkey. Currently the US air force is only allowed to use Incirlik for logistical and humanitarian purposes in Iraq and Syria. Negotiations are ongoing, according to the official.

Turkey’s denial was made one day after US National Security Adviser Susan Rice said the Ankara administration had agreed to train moderate Syrian forces and allow US forces to use its air bases, including Incirlik, for operations against the IS.
