No Vietnamese killed in bomb blast in Bangkok
(VOVworld) - A bomb explosion inside one of Bangkok’s most popular tourist attractions killed at least 19 people and injured 123 others at 7 pm local time on Monday. The figures were based on information released by the Royal Thai Police Office.
According to a Bangkok-based VOV correspondent, a Vietnamese was lightly injured and he is being treated at the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration General Hospital. The Vietnamese ambassador to Thailand Nguyen Tat Thanh leading a mission group immediately searched for information after the explosion when Thai police reported that mostly injured people are Asian.
Vietnam embassy in Bangkok has also timely given the warnings and instructed updated information about the bomb explosion foe Vietnamese community and Vietnamese tourists in Thailand.
The bomb detonated at Erawan Shrine, which is dedicated to the Hindu god Brahma, but is extremely popular among Thailand’s Buddhists as well as Chinese tourists. Police said the bomb was made with a pipe wrapped in cloth. Police said it was too soon to determine the motive. Thailand government has strongly condemned the bomb blast and called on the people not to panic. Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon told reporters that they still don’t know for sure who did this and why, and are not sure if it is politically motivated.
