North Korea announces test of tactical guided weapons
(VOVWORLD) - North Korea has conducted a “strike drill” for multiple launchers, firing tactical guided weapons into the East Sea in a military drill supervised by leader Kim Jong Un on Saturday, the Korean Central News Agency reported on Sunday.
The move came after US President Donald Trump voiced confidence that the North Korean leader would not break his promise even as nuclear talks have been deadlocked. The South Korean defense ministry, however, put the range of weapons fired on Saturday at between 70 to 200 km. The test firing was interpreted as an attempt to exert pressure on Washington to give ground in negotiations to end the North’s nuclear program after a summit in February ended in failure.
