North Korea also fired more than 100 artillery rounds from Kangwon district towards a military buffer zone on its east coast that was established during a military agreement with the South in 2018.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin expressed their concern about North Korea’s moves. Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Kim Gunn made phone calls to his US and Japanese counterparts to discuss the situation.
