South Korea’s news agency Yonhap quoted the Ministry of Unification as saying that the South and North agreed to hold a ministerial meeting on Wednesday and Thursday in Seoul to address inter-Korean issues. The agreement was reached at the expert-level round of talks at the truce village of Panmunjon. The agenda of the upcoming ministerial meeting will be the normalization of the joint-run industrial zone Kaesong, re-opening tours to the Kumgang mountain resort and reuniting separated members of Korean families from the 1950-1953 Korean war as well as other humanitarian issues. Both sides will also discuss celebrations for the joint statement days (June 15 and July 14, 1972), non-governmental visits and further cooperation projects. These are the first government-level talks between the two Koreas for the last six years.
