(VOVworld) - The 2015 Northwest Agriculture and Trade Fair opened in Tuyen Quang province on Wednesday.

It aimed to foster value chain connectivity in production for sustainable growth in agricultural sector”. The 250 booths representing local enterprises displayed agricultural, forestry and aquatic products and advanced science and technology achievements that serve agricultural production and rural development in the Northwest region.

Le Tien Thang, Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said the fair is an opportunity for local firms to transfer technologies and introduce new advances in agriculture and biotechnology.

Thang said that “through the fair, Tuyen Quang and other provinces in the northwest hope to attract more investment to implement agricultural and rural development projects, especially to develop specialized plantation zones following Vietnamese and international standards. It will help combining the perseveration, processing, and gathering of all products for farmers.”

The fair, which will last until this Sunday, is part of the 5th National Festival of the traditional ‘Then’ singing of the Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic minority groups held in Tuyen Quang.
