(VOVworld) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation will hold an urgent meeting between foreign ministers to discuss the tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on January 21 in Jeddah city, Saudi Arabia. On Tuesday, OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani said the meeting coincided with the visit by Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi to Iran and Saudi Arabia to mediate between the two countries. On the same day, EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, had telephone talk with the Indonesian Foreign Minister on the tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia. The two sides agreed on the need to reduce tension in the region and confirmed cooperation to deal with the situation.
