One COVID-19 case detected in Hanoi increases Vietnam’s total to 994
(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Health on Thursday morning reported one new case of COVID-19, an 87-year-old man who came to Hanoi from Phu Tho province for a medical examination.

He developed COVID-19 symptoms and underwent an examination at Hanoi’s E Hospital last week. On Wednesday his test sample, sent to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, came back positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The patient is being isolated and treated at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi’s Dong Anh district.
As of Thursday morning, Vietnam had counted 994 COVID-19 infections, 514 of them linked to Da Nang, Vietnam’s COVID-19 hotspot since late July. 533 of those infected have fully recovered and 25 have died.
