(VOVworld)- An online conference on alternative afforestation opened in Hanoi on Monday. In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai asked for further coordination between ministries, sectors and localities to review constraints in ensuring forest coverage when forests are used in the service of hydro-power plants or for other purposes.

Hai said:“We need to make further efforts to address constraints that we have faced to ensure forest coverage because it is part of our plan for the 2016-2020 period. Because Vietnam is restructuring its economy, we need to protect the forest coverage otherwise we cannot achieve sustainable growth”.
