(VOVworld) – A writing contest has been launched to encourage overseas Vietnamese youth and students to take part in the safeguarding of Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty.

Contestants need to collect historical and legal documents affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over Spratly and Paracels archipelagoes, propose initiatives and scientific measures in developing maritime economy and culture and protecting Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty and environment. Truong Minh Tuan, Minister of Information and Communications, spoke at the launching ceremony: "Through the contest, overseas Vietnamese, particularly youths, will understand more about Vietnam’s justice and the guidelines of Vietnam’s Party and State in safeguarding maritime sovereignty. Our responsibility is to contribute more to defending our seas and islands".
