(VOVworld)- Iran and the P5+1 group, which includes five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany, on Thursday began a 6thround of talks in Geneva to seek an agreement on Iran’s controversial nuclear program before the July 20 deadline. This new round of talks is scheduled to end on July 15. Earlier, officials from both sides were cautious about the talks and did not set high expectations for the outcome.
Iran and the west disagree on a number of issues such as the number of uranium centrifuges which Iran can retain, the structure of the Arak heavy water reactor, and Tehran’s ballistic missile program. According to the US, ballistic missile issue needs to be included in any deal between the P5+1 and Iran. Both sides agreed that a temporary agreement is the most that can be hoped for right now.
