Pagodas urged to celebrate 7th full moon online
(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam Buddhist Shangha has provincial Buddhist Shanghas, Buddhist dignitaries and followers, and pagodas all over Vietnam to celebrate the 7th full moon festival and hold requiems for the deceased virtually - via online apps.
Vietnamese people call the 7th full moon festival (on 15th day of the 7th lunar month) “Vu Lan bao hieu” (Parents' Day) or “Xa toi vong nhan” (Wandering Soul’s Day). The festival is celebrated by Vietnamese people participating in various religious rituals and humanitarian activities.

This year’s Vu Lan festival is celebrated amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Secretary General of the Vietnam Buddhist Shangha (VBS)'s Executive Council, Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien has asked the VBS’s local affiliates to stay vigilant and engage in precaution measures, which have proven effective in the past time, while holding mass activities to protect people’s health and maintain their religious life.
