(VOVworld) – Pakistani Foreign Ministry has sent a letter to India to offer a negotiation over the disputed Jammu-Kashmir. Secretary of Foreign Affairs Aizaz Chaudhary on Monday invited his Indian counterpart to Islamabad in order to have meaningful dialogue over the Kashmir issue.

New Delhi has not responded to Pakistan’s proposal. India halted bilateral talks with Pakistan after an attack on India’s airbase in Pathankot in January, which India blamed on the Jaish-e-Muhammad of Pakistan.
Kashmir has been divided into two parts controlled by India and Pakistan since both countries declared independence from Britain in 1947. India and Pakistan have claimed sovereignty of the whole Kashmir. Since 1989 rebel groups have launched attacks on India-controlled Kashmir. India has blamed Pakistan for backing the rebels, an accusation that Pakistan has rejected.
