Palestine criticizes withdrawal by Israel, US from UNESCO
(VOVWORLD) - Palestine believes that the United States' decision to withdraw from UNESCO and Israel's intention to follow suit are a mistake, Secretary General of the Fatah movement's central committee Jibril Rajoub said Monday.

He emphasized the US and Israel ignored international rules and said the two countries will only lose from making this decision.
Palestinian Ambassador to Moscow, Abdel Hafiz Nofal, said that Isreal’s intention to withdraw from UNESCO will not have a negative impact on the Isreal-Palestine peace process, but the US and Israel should rejoin UNESCO because it’s one of the best organizations in the world.
The US State Department announced Thursday that the US will withdraw from UNESCO, effect December 31, but will continue to provide American perspective and expertise to UNESCO as a nonmember observer.
