(VOVworld) - Panamanian authorities seized scores of digital files after a 27-hour raid on the offices of Mossack Fonseca, the law firm at the centre of the “Panama Papers” scandal. Javier Caraballo, the prosecutor in charge of the raid, said officials now have access to 100 “virtual servers” and some physical servers that hold the company's records, and are analysing them. Caraballo added that at the moment, they do not have any firm evidence that allows them to make any decisions regarding Mossack Fonseca.

The Panamanians are seeking evidence of any illegal activities at the firm. Many countries put Panama back on a blacklist of tax havens which facilitate money laundering and tax evasion.
Mossack Fonseca has denied any wrongdoing, saying it only set up offshore financial accounts and anonymous shell companies for clients and was not involved in how those accounts were used. Mossack Fonseca promised cooperation with officials in their probe into the “Panama Papers”.
